Van Leeuwen Ice Cream

Van Leeuwen's vanilla pudding-colored truck is nothing like your average ice-cream dealer on wheels — it doesn't have a scary ice-cream clown mascot and it has no chimey jingle to announce its arrival. But it does have delicious ice cream. That's all that matters, right? Well, for Van Leeuwen, how it gets to the point of delicious matters very much too. This artisanal ice cream is made with fresh hormone-free milk (from grass-fed cows in the Adirondack Mountains), pure sugar cane, egg yolk, and all-natural fruits, beans, and nuts that help create delectable flavors like ginger, giandujia (chocolate and hazelnut), and red currant. No artificial stabilizers, preservatives, or emulsifiers are ever used. And, the truck serves the gourmet treat in corn- and sugarcane-husk bowls. Who could have guessed ice cream trucks would come this far?

Get the scoop on where to find Van Leeuwen at vanleeuwenicecream.com.
