Collar Me Happy
Green Jobs Day
At a recent panel talk, even pioneer chef Alice Waters was upstaged by activist Van Jones — whose call for green economic development in urban areas had the audience inspired. It’s tough to argue with his reasoning: Turn blue-collar jobs into “green” collar jobs, provide training, alleviate social inequalities and environmental destruction with a one-two punch. Intrigued? Gear up for Green Jobs Day on September 27 — a national series of concerts, poetry readings, and gatherings meant to jumpstart conversation about a new economy of eco-friendly jobs. Note: The movement is charmingly grassroots so rally everyone in your PDA, from farmers to chefs to engineers.
